He watches his mother
as if on an endless loop
of super-8 from 1969,
her legs turned to the side
as she sits on the grass
with a bouffant that rests
like a black tower on her
head and her children
running to and from her
saying something inaudible
as she barely looks
at them—a planet fixed
in the eye of the camera
about to stamp her place
in time and space.
